UPDATE: Fight day odds and betting splits for O’Malley-Vera
One of the most-talented prospects in the UFC makes his debut as a featured fighter in the co-main event of UFC 252 when “Sugar” Sean O’Malley takes on Marlon Vera at bantamweight this Saturday in Las Vegas.
O’Malley has overwhelmed opponents on both the independent circuit and in the UFC. He enters with a 12-0 record, 4-0 in the UFC, and joined the roster after a legendary fight at Dana White’s Contender Series in July of 2017. His last two wins have been by first round knockout where he’s caught opponents clean from the standup and looked like an overwhelming force.
He enters ranked #14 in the division, and will look for his third knockout of calendar year 2020 on Saturday. He lands 6.86 significant strikes per minute in the octagon, and wants to fight on his feet.
Vera is 15-6-1 overall, with a 9-5 record in the UFC. The Ecudorian will want to put the fight on the mat, as he has eight career submission victories and five knockouts on his resume. “Chito” averages 3.70 strikes per minute and just 0.88 takedowns, and had won five in a row before being upset by Song Yadong in a unanimous decision in May as part of the UFC’s return to Jacksonville.
