This could be the best match of the knockout stages of the Champions League as Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich face Lionel Messi and Barcelona in a Friday blockbuster. We break down DraftKings’ Soccer Showdown with some suggestions for your roster.

Captain

Robert Lewandowski ($18,600)

Lewandowski has been one of the best strikers in the world. He has managed to stay consistent right through this year. Bayern Munich’s quick pace of play fits right into his own preferred style. He scored one goal and assisted on two others in Bayern Munich’s previous Champions League game against Chelsea last week. His form will likely continue here.

Others to consider: Lionel Messi ($18,300)

High-priced flex options

Lionel Messi ($12,200)

Messi was vocal about helping the Barcelona club take care of employees during the coronavirus crisis, which in turn turned into a verbal scuffle with the board. That was quickly put to bed with a fine performance on the pitch against Napoli in the second leg. He scored in that game too. He will be an odds-on favorite to score again in a fast-paced setting.

Luis Suarez ($9,000)

Suarez was given the penalty against Napoli and didn’t disappoint. Suarez can often be missed in this Barcelona environment but he is a key part of the offense. Bayern Munich was the best defensive team in the Bundesliga. Barcelona will need all they can muster offensively in order to break that defense and create some chances. He is averaging 17.7 DKFP per game.

Serge Gnabry ($8,600)

Right through Bayern Munich’s midfield, they have players of astounding caliber. Gnabry is one of those players. He is more a playmaker than an outright goal-scorer. However, the team creates so many opportunities that he eventually gets into a scoring position. And with his level of skill, particularly with the dribbling ball, he can convert that chance into a goal from in or outside the box.

Others to consider: Ivan Perisic ($7,800).

Value flex options

Thomas Muller ($8,200)

Muller’s role changed this season for Bayern Munich. He was pushed a little further behind in a contributory role. He did that particularly well too, aggregating well over 15 assists during the Bundesliga season. That change has also meant he now takes several shots from just outside the box. Barcelona might not keep a high line, in order to keep Lewandowski away, which could leave Muller with some space inside the box.

Joshua Kimmich ($7,400)

Kimmich has been classified as a defender, which is a point of contention. In your case, that should be beneficial because he often plays as a midfielder, albeit in a holding capacity. He has aggregated 10.9 DKFP per game so far. Although it’s unlikely this will be a scoreless draw, there is a chance Kimmich could make an offensive contribution, which equates to more fantasy points with his position classification.

Others to consider: Antoine Griezmann ($6,200).
