The FedExCup Playoffs get underway on Thursday with the first round of The Northern Trust at TPC Boston. The top 125 golfers in FedExCup points will take part and the top 70 in points following this weekend will advance to next week’s BMW Championship.
Plenty of golfers have work to do to earn points, but there are still plenty of cash prizes to claim at this week’s tournament. A year ago, tourney winner Patrick Reed took home $1.665 million and the total tournament purse was $9,250,000.
Bryson DeChambeau is the favorite to win the tournament at DraftKings Sportsbook, with +1100 odds. Justin Thomas follows him at +1300 and then Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm at +1500. However, you have to go outside that top four to see who the public is backing in a big way.
Fresh off his PGA Championship victory, Collin Morikawa is installed at +2500, which is ninth in the field. He is also getting the most action at DraftKings Sportsbook, with 8 percent of the handle and 6 percent of all bets on odds to win. Jason Day and Matthew Wolff are both +2000 to win the tournament and are getting 7 percent and 6 percent of total handle, respectively.
Tiger Woods is installed at +4500, which is tied for 14th in odds to win. He is tied with Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, and Brooks Koepka with 4 percent of total handle. Koepka was listed at +3500, but has withdrawn due to injury.
Here’s a look at the top 14 in betting handle to win The Northern Trust this week.
