A pair of lightweights looking to move towards the Top 15 rankings will face off on the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN Saturday when Austin “Thud” Hubbard faces Joe Solecki live from the UFC Apex arena.
Hubbard is 12-4, 2-2 in the UFC. His last fight became one of the more controversial bouts of the year in the octagon as his opponent Max Rohskopf quit on his stool after having to convince his coaches he didn’t want to continue. It counted as his first stoppage in the promotion, though he has seven finishes in his career (five KO’s, two submissions). He’s averaged 3.53 significant strikes per minute and 0.82 takedowns per 15 minutes. The 28-year-old fights out of Elevation Fight Team in Denver, Colorado.
Solecki is 9-2 and won his way to a contract via Dana White’s Contender Series, and was victorious in his debut on the main roster over Matt Wiman by unanimous decision on December 7th. He dominated that fight with a significant strike advantage of 56-10 and a 4-0 edge on takedowns. The 26-year-old from Wenonah, New Jersey has a knockout and six submission finishes on his resume, mostly built in the Cage Fighting Fury Championships.
