UPDATE: The final cut line is -3. Tiger Woods made the cut with a -3.
The PGA Tour teed off the second round of The Northern Trust on Friday at 7:20 a.m. ET. Harris English, Kevin Streelman, Cameron Davis, and Russell Henley opened the day as leaders at -7, but we’ve got several golfers already on the move early in the round. Bubba Watson and Kevin Kisner each birdied the first two holes to move into the lead, while Charles Howell III has an eagle to move to -7.
The second round is underway with the first half of the field moving on the course, and the second half getting going starting at noon. We have a long ways to go before the cut is determined today. Nearly half the field will be cut by the end of Friday, setting the field for the final two rounds.
How is the cut line determined?
The cut line at 36 holes is the top 65 players plus those tied at the end of that group.
What is the cut line for the 3M Open?
5:38 p.m.: The cut line remains at -3 with the remaining golfers on the final third of the course.
4:42 p.m.: The cut line remains at -3 with the remaining golfers into the back nine.
3:27 p.m.: The cut line remains at -3.
2:05 p.m.: The cut line has moved to -3 with everybody teed off.
1:28 p.m.: The cut line remains at -2 with 12 players left to tee off.
12:12 p.m.: The cut line remains at -2 with the second half of the field beginning to tee off. 75 golfers are currently projected to make the cut, with 15 at -2 and 8 at -1.
As of 8:30 a.m. on Friday, the cut line is -2 and 72 golfers are projected to make the cut. 18 golfers are currently at -2, and another 14 are at -1.
Will Tiger Woods make the cut?
5:38 p.m.: Woods birdied 14 and 15 to move to -4 with two holes remaining.
4:42 p.m.: Woods is still at -3 for the tournament through 12 holes on Friday.
3:27 p.m.: Woods bogeyed No. 4 and sits at -3, right inside the cut line.
2:05 p.m.: Woods is at -4 after a birdie on the first hole. He scored par on the second hole and is on the third hole now.
1:28 p.m.: Woods has just teed off.
He finished Thursday at -3, which would make the cut. He tees off at 1:17 p.m.
Who is not projected to make the cut?
5:38 p.m.: Rory McIlroy has moved to -3, while Spieth dropped to -1.
4:42 p.m.: Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, and Jordan Spieth are both at -2 in their back nine.
3:27 p.m.: Collin Morikawa (-2) and Jordan Spieth (-2) are right outside the cut, while Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler, Patrick Reed, Xander Schauffele, and Hideky Matsuyama are all with Woods at -3.
2:05 p.m.: Justin Rose (-2) and Tony Finau (-1) are among those outside the cut line.
1:28 p.m.: Bryson DeChambeau and Sungjae Im finished their respective second rounds even for the tournament.
12:12 p.m.: Webb Simpson and Jason Day (both at -1) have yet to tee off. Phil Mickelson stumbled on Thursday to +3, but got back to even par in his recently completed round. Bryson DeChambeau remains at even on the back nine.
Hideki Matsuyama has a bogey early in the round to drop to even, Bryson DeChambeau was even on Thursday and is teeing off as we speak, and Collin Morikawa is even and teeing off this afternoon.
