Who qualified for BMW Championship in FedExCup Playoffs

The Northern Trust is a wrap and the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Playoffs moves on to the second round at the BMW Championship. Here are the top 70 who qualified.

The PGA Tour opened its 2020 FedExCup Playoffs this past week at The Northern Trust, and the Tour is now set to move on to the second round at the BMW Championship. Dustin Johnson rolled to victory with a -30, finishing 11 shots ahead of second place Harris English.

In winning the tournament, Johnson also moved into first place in the FedExCup Playoffs points leaderboard. He entered the tournament in 15th place but with triple points in the playoffs, it makes it easy for someone to shoot up the leaderboard.

The top 70 players after The Northern Trust will advance to the BMW Championship at Olympia Fields in Chicago next weekend. Right now that bubble has plenty of talented golfers that need a nice score on Sunday. After next weekend, the top 30 in points will head to the season-ending TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, so players are looking to increase their chances of making both fields to have a shot at a guaranteed payday of at least $450,000 if they make the Top 30.

Some notable names will not be headed to Chicago next week. That group includes Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, and Charley Hoffman. Tiger Woods finished strong on Sunday, closng out at -6 and is projected at No. 58. He has some work to do to get to the TOUR Championship, but he’s got some momentum to build on.

The PGA Tour will formalize rankings later tonight, but for now, here is the Top 70 following The Northern Trust, and thus the full projected field for the BMW Championships.
