UPDATE: AUg. 25, 3:50 p.m. — Davis is being listed as probable for Game 5 vs. the Trail Blazers on Wednesday. AD left Monday’s win in Game 4 in the second half due to back spasms and did not return. Seeing as he’s probable, that move was likely precautionary and it seems AD will be fine for the potential closeout game with the Lakers up 3-1 in the series.
Los Angeles Lakers PF Anthony Davis will not return to Game 4 vs. the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night due to back spasms. The Lakers are up big in the third quarter and are going to take any chances with AD coming back into the game.
Anthony Davis has left the game with back spasms, the Lakers say, and will not return.— Kyle Goon (@kylegoon) August 25, 2020
Davis played 18 minutes in the first half, finishing with 18 points, 5 boards and 5 assists. With no AD the rest of the game, we should see a lot of Kyle Kuzma and Markieff Morris off the bench. With the Lakers sporting such a huge lead, you’d think LeBron James will see a decent amount of bench the rest of the way. God forbid the Lakers go into the second round with AD and Bron dealing with injuries.
This could be a window for the Blazers to make a run and maybe make this game competitive. The spread was only 7 points at tip-off and got out of hand quickly. I’m not saying go jump on the Blazers live spread, but Portland has to think this is it for the season if they can’t find a way to come back in this game.
