The NASCAR Cup Series is returning to Daytona International Speedway on Saturday for the Coke Zero Sugar 400. The race is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC. We’ll go over the favorites to win and the starting order below.
NASCAR has changed its system for determining the starting grid in the three national series (Cup, Xfinity, Gander Outdoors Truck) moving forward. Three performance metrics will be utilized, with each one weighted a little different. It breaks down as follows.
- Finishing position from the previous race (weighted 50%)
- Ranking in team owner points standings (35%)
- Fastest lap from the previous race (15%)
This system will be used for the remaining regular season races and the playoffs.
Denny Hamlin is favored to finish first at +650 on DraftKings Sportsbook. He’s won two of his last three races on the oval at Dayton and placed second behind Chase Elliott (+1400) on August 16. Kevin Harvick (+1000) has been favored by Vegas a lot lately, but has the second best odds in the field. He hasn’t had great performances at Daytona recently, but has been on a tear everywhere else. Brad Keselowski rounds out the top three at +1200 despite having crashed in four of his last five races at Daytona.
Here’s a look at the full starting lineup for Saturday’s Coke Zero Sugar 400.
