FedExCup Playoffs standings entering final round of the BMW Championship

The second round of the BMW Championship has finished, with 69 golfers attempting to earn a spot in the top 30 of the FedExCup points leaderboard. We break down who is currently projected to make the top 30 and advance to the 2020 TOUR Championship next week.

UPDATE, Saturday evening: The third round is a wrap and Dustin Johnson remains on top of the FedExCup points leaderboard. Hideki Matsuyama is tied with Johnson atop the BMW Championship leaderboard at -1, and Matsuyama is now in second on the points leaderboard. He entered the tournament ranked 18th in points. Tiger Woods is currently on track to slip to 65th after entering the tournament in 57th place. The full leaderboard is at the bottom of the article.

The PGA Tour is midway through the 2020 BMW Championship, and we are a little over two rounds of golf away from knowing the complete field for the season-ending TOUR Championship. The top 69 golfers in the FedExCup Playoffs are playing at Olympia Fields this week in a suburb of Chicago. The top 30 in points will advance to next week’s TOUR Championship to compete for the season-ending money prize.

The second round of the BMW Championship wrapped up Friday, and Patrick Cantlay will have played himself into the field at East Lake if he can hold on, as he’s at -1 and tied with Rory McIlroy for first place heading towards Moving Day. That duo is followed by Hideki Matsuyama and Dustin Johnson at even par, which would leave DJ in first place in the FedEx points in Atlanta if he can stay T3.

The PGA offers a projected FedExCup points leaderboard throughout the tournament, and the table below is what it looked like heading into Friday’s play.

Tiger Woods finished Friday at +5 to make it to +8, and he’s tied for 55th in the tournament. He entered the tournament at 57th in FedEx points, and it looks very unlikely that he’ll make it to the TOUR Championship.

With 36 holes to play, here is what the FedExCup Playoffs board looks like after two rounds of the BMW Championship. Mackenzie Hughes was 30th after Friday, and was 36th before the event started, which would make him the last player projected to qualify for the TOUR Championship.
