The PGA Tour will hold its first major tournament since restarting play in June. The PGA Championship will take place at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, teeing off this Thursday, August 6th.
Tiger Woods returns to action, playing in his second tournament of the restart. He just barely made the cut at the Memorial Tournament, and finished tied for 40th with a +6. He enters PGA Championship week at +3000 to win. Back in April, when the Tour announced its revised schedule, Woods was +1200.
Justin Thomas is the favorite at +800, followed by Brooks Koepka (+1000) and the trio of Bryson Dechambeau, Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm (all +1400). In April, Koepka and McIlroy were co-favorites at +800, followed by Rahm (+900), and Dustin Johnson (+1100). Johnson is now +2200.
Koepka is the defending PGA Championship winner, winning by two strokes in spite of a final round +4. Johnson finished second, followed by a three-way tie between Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, and Matt Wallace.
The last time Harding Park hosted a tournament was 2015, when McIlroy won the WGC-Cadillac Match Play event. It had previously held the Charles Schwab Cup Championship from 2010 to 2012.
