It’s a middleweight matchup between two unranked fighters trying to get to the Top 15 when Maki Pitolo takes on Darren Stewart live from UFC Fight Night this Saturday on ESPN from Las Vegas.

Pitolo is 13-5 and coming off a second round TKO win over Charles Byrd at UFC 250 for his first win in the promotion following a loss to Callan Potter on his first main roster fight. Prior to that he beat Justin Michael Sumter via TKO at Dana White’s Contender Series, and his two wins previously were via submission at Bellator 213 over Chris Cisneros and at CFFC 68 with a knockout of Thiago Rela.

Stewart is 11-5-1 and has been in the UFC since 2016, though his last fight against Bartosz Fabinski was moved to the Cage Warriors promotion due to the Covid-19 outbreak. That officially makes him 4-4-1 in the UFC with two stoppages, with 2.94 strikes per minute and 1.38 takedowns per 15 minutes. Despite starting his career at 0-3-1, he’s won four of his last five in the promotion and is fighting on the main card here.
