Lineup advice for Orioles-Nationals Showdown

We break down ideal picks for Sunday’s Orioles-Nationals matchup.

MLB: JUL 20 Nationals at Orioles Washington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg pitches during a Summer Camp game against the Baltimore Orioles on July 20, 2020, at Orioles Park at Camden Yards, in Baltimore, MD.

The Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals will play Sunday at 12:35 p.m. ET. Righty Stephen Strasburg will make his season debut at home against righty Asher Wojciechowski. DraftKings will have Showdown DFS contests available for the matchup. We break down the ideal lineup strategy below, and you can play here.

Captain’s Picks

Stephen Strasburg, P, Nationals: $16,200

Strasburg missed his season debut due to a nerve issue in his hand, but has continued his normal routine and should be able to go around 80 pitches against the Orioles at home. We know that he can get a bunch of strikeouts through 80 pitches and his price isn’t outrageous.

Juan Soto, OF, Nationals: $15,900

Wojciechowski has allowed a 2.07 HR/9 to lefties so far in his career and a 1.73 HR/9 to righties for that matter. Soto is the highest upside hitter for DK scoring in this game and destroys righties, especially of Wojciechowski’s caliber. Last season he had a 1.000 OPS, .415 OBP. .584 SLG, .302 ISO and .414 wOBA against righties.

Utility Picks

Asdrubal Cabrera, 3B, Nationals: $8,200

Switch hitting Cabrera has been hitting well and shows more power from the left side, setting him up well against Wojciechowski. He’s hit safely in four straight games and has two doubles and a triple in that stretch.

Rio Ruiz, 3B, Orioles: $4,400

Ruiz has been hitting with power, with three home runs in 27 at bats. He’s not a safe play by any means, but I like him as a cheap, upside play in GPP leagues.
