Reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes is set to kick off the 2020 season by leading his Kansas City Chiefs in their season opener against the Houston Texans on Thursday. He had one of the most explosive fantasy seasons of all time in 2018 but had a difficult time matching that level of production the following season. He could put up some big numbers in a shootout as his team begins its title defense.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

Mahomes faced the Texans twice last year and combined for 598 passing yards and eight touchdown passes. Those numbers show how dominant he can be, and his offense might be even better this time around now that Clyde Edwards-Helaire can provide elite versatility out of the backfield. Most expect Mahomes and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to be the gold standard among fantasy quarterbacks, and this is one of the best matchups Mahomes will get all year.

Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Mahomes no matter what. he can put up video game numbers regardless of who he’s facing and upgraded the personnel around him over the offseason.
