A pair of featherweights with impressive records lift the lid on the main card of UFC Vegas 10 this Saturday as Tampa’s Billy Quarantillo takes on Ontario’s Kyle Nelson live on ESPN+ from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Quarantillo is 14-2 in MMA, and has won seven in a row including his Dana White’s Contender Series victory in July of 2019, and two fights on the main roster since. He defeated Spike Carlyle by unanimous decision on May 30th in his last outing, and has averaged a huge 7.43 significant strikes per minute with three total takedowns in just over 28 minutes of octagon time.
“Billy Q” fights out of Gracie Tampa South right next to the campus of the University of Tampa, and just two blocks from the best pastrami you’ll ever have at the Cass Street Deli.
Nelson is 13-3 overall but just 1-2 in the UFC and enters as the biggest underdog on the main card, though that hasn’t stopped him from predicting a first round KO. The 29-year-old fights out of House of Champions MMA, and picked up his first UFC victory in his last bout over Marco Polo Reyes in September of 2019 by KO. In just over 21 minutes of UFC octagon time, he’s averaged 2.73 significant strikes, but taken a whopping 6.35. He has nine finishes in his mixed martial arts career.
