UPDATE 2:40 p.m.: This fight has been canceled due to a bad weight cut by Schnell that had him collapse while a couple pounds over the 126 limit.
Wrapping up the prelims before UFC Vegas 10’s main card, Matt Schnell vs. Tyson Nam should be a thriller as Nam is dropping from bantamweight to make this fight with Schnell. The fight will be a flyweight bout.
Matt “Danger” Schnell will be entering the fight with a 14-5 record. Schnell isn’t a knockout-heavy fighter with eight of his wins coming from submissions and a mere two from knockout or technical knockout. Schnell has won four of his last five fights, but he hasn’t competed since a 2019 knockout at the hand of Alexandre Pantoja who is now a top-five flyweight contender.
As for Nam he’s the exact opposite, which may make this one of the most exciting fights of the night. Nam has 19 wins on his record and 11 defeats. Of those 19, he’s knocked out his opponent 11 times. Having split his last five bouts 3-2, Nam is coming off a knockout of Zarrukh Adashev, a fight that happened almost exactly three months ago.
Schnell vs. Nam will be a three-round fight, but if each fighters recent history tells us anything, this may not go past the first round.
