There are a ton of do-it-all running backs in today’s NFL, and you’ll get to see a a lot of them play on Sunday. Christian McCaffrey ($10,000) is the most expensive player at any position in this weekend’s 12-game NFL DFS slate on DraftKings, and we’ll explain why he and a few other expensive running backs are worth paying up for here.
Christian McCaffrey ($10,000), Carolina Panthers vs. Las Vegas Raiders
McCaffrey has the highest ceiling of any running back in the slate. He’s been top three in yards from scrimmage for two straight seasons and become the third player ever to record 1,000 rushing and receiving yards in the same season in 2019. He’s sure to be the most important part of Carolina’s offense, and Teddy Bridgewater can draw on his experience playing alongside Alvin Kamara to make use of McCaffrey’s versatility. He eclipsed 30 DKFP 10 times last season.
Austin Ekeler ($7,000), Los Angeles Chargers vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Ekeler is like a scaled down version of McCaffrey, and he’ll get a chance to run the show in 2020 now that Melvin Gordon has signed with the Denver Broncos. His 92 receptions were second to only McCaffrey among running backs. Cincinnati fielded one of the worst defenses in the NFL against the run and the pass last year, which bodes well for Ekeler’s production.
Josh Jacobs ($6,800), Las Vegas Raiders vs. Carolina Panthers
Jacobs was RB14 in standard leagues as a rookie and tallied 1,150 rushing yards and seven scores. He was able chip in with 20 receptions, but Mike Mayock wants him to get more involved through the air in year two. The Panthers lost Luke Kuechly to retirement after last season, and Carolina still ranked dead last against the run on defense.
