In the first Top 25 upset of 2020, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns knocked off #23 Iowa State 31-14 at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa on Saturday. It’s the first road win ever for ULL over a ranked opponent.
The 12-point underdog Cajuns used a pair of kick returns to pull the upset: A 95-yard kickoff return in the second quarter by Chris Smith, and a 63-yard punt to the paint by Eric Garror early in the fourth quarter, which ended up being the last score of the game.

Quarterback Levi Lewis was 13/21 for 154 yards and a touchdown for ULL, but even more impressive is what they did defensively: Heisman Trophy candidate Brock Purdy was held to 16/35 for 145 yards and an interception.
The Cajuns are picked to win their division in the Sun Belt, and they might be cracking the Top 25 themselves a bit sooner than expected during this unusual 2020 college football season.
