What to do with Scotty Miller in Week 1 fantasy football with Mike Evans hurt

Mike Evans is questionable. If he can’t go, Miller becomes a possible fantasy play.

The fate of Scotty Miller in Week 1 likely hinges completely on the gameday status of Mike Evans.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers originally designated Evans as “doubtful” after practice on Friday, meaning Evans’s status for Week 1 was....doubtful. Bruce Arians had only labeled one Buccaneers as “doubtful” last year - Donovan Smith in Week 15 - and he didn’t play.

But then there was a Saturday morning swerve, with the Buccaneers upgrading Evans’s status to “questionable,” muddying up the entire situation.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bucs WR Scotty Miller

The situation is fairly simple: If Evans plays, Miller is likely not worth starting Week 1 in your fantasy lineup. If Evans has to miss the game, Miller immediately becomes a high-end flex option or low-end number two wide receiver.

Marshon Lattimore completely shut out Mike Evans the last two times these teams met in New Orleans, so if Evans were to miss the game, that means Lattimore slides down the depth chart to cover Chris Godwin, meaning Scotty Miller has the “benefit” of facing Janoris Jenkins - still a talented cornerback, but not quite to the caliber of Lattimore when Lattimore is playing at his best.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Continue to monitor. Start if Evans is out for Week 1. Sit otherwise.
