D’Andre Swift is not listed on the Detroit Lions’ Friday injury report after dealing with a hip injury. He was a limited participant during practices on Wednesday and Thursday before participating fully on Friday. He appears to be set to make his debut with the Lions.
The Lions’ backfield appears to be headed for three-headed monster status with Swift alongside newly acquired Adrian Peterson and Detroit’s 2019 leading rusher with Kerryon Johnson. Swift is a rookie from Georgia who is a good runner and should see his fair share of targets out of the backfield. He should be heavily involved in the offense throughout the season as he was selected as the 35th overall pick during the NFL Draft.
Fantasy impact: It would take a surprising development for Swift to miss his NFL debut game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, so he should see the field. Assuming he does suit up, he should not be viewed as anything more than a flex in deeper leagues. Maybe Swift takes control of the carries in the Lions’ backfield as he moves along his first season as a professional, but it would be difficult to trust him in Week 1.
