How to handle Denzel Mims injury in Week 1 fantasy football

The Jets’ rookie is out this week. We break down what Denzel Mims’ injury means.

The New York Jets will be without the services of rookie wide receiver Denzel Mims this week for their season opener against the Buffalo Bills. He has been designed as out on the official injury report.

Mims has been dealing with a hamstring issue since the middle of last month when he hurt it running routes at practice. He was able to get back on the field last week, and there was hope earlier this week that he might be able to play. Unfortunately, he was hurting again late in the week.

Fantasy football analysis, New York Jets WR Denzel Mims

A second-round pick out of Baylor this year, the Jets drafted Mims with the hopes of him turning into a legitimate receiving threat to pair with Jamison Crowder. With Mims out of action, Chris Hogan will get more work alongside Crowder and Breshard Perriman in three-receiver sets.

This is one of those injuries that you’ll need to keep an eye on if you want to try and sneak Mims into your lineup at some point this season. The fact that he’s been dealing with it for weeks now and suffered a setback just when it looked like he might be fine, is a red flag. Of course, injury aside, you should probably wait and see how Mims develops and fits into that offense before making him part of your lineup plans.
