What to do with Tarik Cohen in Week 1 fantasy football

Cohen could give fantasy lineups an unexpected boost this week.

Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen was probably an afterthought in most fantasy drafts, someone the computer picked for your lineup long after you walked away. But with David Montgomery dealing with a groin injury, Cohen could be a nice addition to your lineup this week when the Bears take on the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bears RB Tarik Cohen

All signs point to Montgomery playing this week. He was a full participant at practice over the last two days, despite being listed as questionable on the official injury report. But even if Montgomery plays, Cohen still figures to have a role in this one. There’s even the possibility that Montgomery isn’t up to full speed and the team plays it safe with him. That points to Cohen getting some more carries on top of his work in the passing game.

The Lions are middle of the pack against the run. Cohen’s had success against them too, scoring three times in his last four outings against Detroit. He’s a decent flex play and good option in PPR formats.
