Add the Seattle Seahawks to the list of teams employing a two-headed running back situation to start the season. Both Chris Carson and free agent addition Carlos Hyde have a role to play in the team’s ground game, which is great for the Seahawks, but frustrating for fantasy owners looking to make lineup decisions ahead of Sunday.
Fantasy Football analysis: Seahawks RBs Chris Carson, Carlos Hyde
Carson is widely expected to be the main guy in the rotation. The tricky thing here is that he’s coming off a fractured hip that ended his season last year. He had surgery during the offseason, and by all accounts is fully healthy.
Head coach Pete Carroll has made it clear that he expects Hyde to play a significant role in the team’s offense. He’s also not a bad insurance policy given Carson’s injury history.
This week against the Falcons, Carson is most likely going to get the bulk of the work, especially on early downs. He’s a better bet for fantasy purposes this week. Hyde should see the field too, but it’s too much of an unknown to recommend him as a starter in your lineup.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Carson. Sit Hyde.
