Despite their recent training camp media sparring, New York Jets head coach Adam Gase is expecting more from running back Le’Veon Bell this season. Despite the presence of ageless wonder Frank Gore, Bell is expected to get more work in the team’s passing game this season, now that he has a better understanding of the team’s offense in his second season with Gang Green.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jets RB Le’Veon Bell
It’s hard to know what to make of Bell’s fantasy prospect this week. The Jets face the Buffalo Bills, a team with one of the league’s tougher defenses (they ranked among the top 10 in both rushing yards and touchdowns allowed). There’s also the presence of Gore, who most expect to take carries away from Bell.
On the other hand, the Jets may not have much choice but to use Bell more as a receiver this week. Injuries have taken a toll on an already thin group of wide receivers, and the Bills secondary will be all over Jamison Crowder. And with the Jets likely to be playing from behind, someone’s going to have to catch the ball.
Bell’s not going to be looking at peak numbers against the Bills, but he should get enough work to be a viable starter in fantasy lineups. Plus, he’s a decent bargain in DFS, costing just $5,600 in DraftKings leagues.
