Los Angeles Chargers wideout Mike Williams will take the field Sunday in his team’s season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury for a few weeks, but was deemed ready to play in Week 1 after warming up. He’s expected to be an important part of the Chargers’ passing game this year.
Fantasy football analysis: Chargers WR Mike Williams
Los Angeles made a change at quarterback over the offseason by moving on from Philip Rivers. Tyrod Taylor has been named the Week 1 starter. That could affect the production of the Chargers’ wideouts, as Taylor’s ability to stretch the field with his arm is questionable. Williams was able to creep over 1,000 receiving yards on only 49 receptions. While he only scored two touchdowns that season, he averaged more than 20 yards per receptions. His ability to get chunk yardage and 6’4” frame could help him put up strong numbers without a ton of targets. He’s more viable in DFS than season-long fantasy. Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler have higher upside.
