How the public is betting the Monday Night Football doubleheader

The betting public likes the favored Steelers on Monday Night Football, but is a little less certain about the favored Titans.

The NFL closes out Week 1 on Monday evening with a pair of games in what is growing into a traditional Monday Night Football doubleheader on ESPN. The evening gets going at 7:15 p.m. when the New York Giants host the Pittsburgh Steelers. It closes at 10:10 p.m. when the Denver Broncos host the Tennessee Titans.

The road team is favored in both games, with Pittsburgh laying six points and Tennessee laying a field goal. The betting public expects big things from Ben Roethlisberger in his return, but is a little less certain what to make of the Titans-Broncos matchup. We’ve got a look at DraftKings Sportsbook betting splits to give us an idea of where the public is at on these matchups.

Steelers @ Giants betting splits

The public thinks the Steelers will win this one, with 77 percent of handle and 81 percent of bets on the -250 Steelers. Moreover, the public thinks the Steelers will win by a touchdown or more, with 79 percent of handle and 81 percent of bets on the Steelers who are currently -6.

I personally think this will turn into a shootout, but the public disagrees by a slim majority. 55 percent of the handle and 52 percent of total bets are on the game going under 45 points.

Titans @ Broncos betting splits

The betting public thinks the Titans are going to win this game, with 59 percent of moneyline handle and 67 percent of total moneyline bets on Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry. However, while 51 percent of total bets are on the Titans to cover, 56 percent of the handle is on the Broncos to cover.

Regardless, the public thinks this one should have some decent offensive output. The point total is installed at 40.5, and heading into the game, 73 percent of handle and bets are on the over.
