The Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos go head-to-head in the late Monday night game. This matchup gives us a chance to see if Ryan Tannehill’s 2019 season was an aberation or the new normal. It will also give us a look at Drew Lock as the Week 1 starter with a glut of good offensive skill players around him.
The bulk of the fantasy points tonight are going to go to the likes of Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill, A.J. Brown, Drew Lock, Melvin Gordon, Phillip Lindsay, Courtland Sutton (if he plays), Jerry Jeudy and Noah Fant. The question is, who are those one or two players further down the radar that will become critical in this game and help you roster more studs in the DraftKings Showdown?
Corey Davis, WR, Titans, $6,000
Davis has plenty of ability, but in a run-first offense, he isn’t going to be as consistent as we’d like. He’s also been eclipsed by A.J. Brown, but I don’t think we can count Davis out completely. He’s still the No. 2 receiver with a bunch of upside.
Jonnu Smith, TE, Titans, $5,800
Smith is a player I like a lot. His ability after the catch is up there with the best in the game and he can turn a short gain into a big one in a hurry. His target load, like any Titans receiver isn’t what we’d like to see, but his ability keeps him in the conversation.
KJ Hamler, WR, Broncos, $200
Courtland Sutton is a game-time decision, which makes room for some cheaper plays if he can’t go. And cheap is the word to use here with Hamler. $200 is way too low for Hamler, as he is a good football player and set to start if he can get healthy. And there’s the rub. Hamler has been out with a hamstring injury for much of camp, but did get limited practices in all week and is listed as questionable. If he plays, I’m punting at his price.
DaeSean Hamilton/Tim Patrick, WRs, $2,800/$1,800
If both Hamler and Sutton are out, these two will be lining up alongside Jerry Jeudy. Of course that makes Noah Fant and Jeudy must plays, but these two will get their chances.
