What to do with Joe Mixon in Week 2 fantasy football

We evaluate whether you should start or sit Joe Mixon against the Browns in Week 2.

Joe Mixon is expected to be an important member of the Cincinnati Bengals’ offense in 2020, but got off to an underwhelming start against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1. The Cleveland Browns are up next on Cincinnati’s schedule and got off to a strong start when it comes to defending against the run. We’ll review Mixon’s fantasy football upside below.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Bengals RB Joe Mixon

Mixon racked up 19 carries in Week 1 but only managed to total 69 rushing yards. He wasn’t much of a factor as a pass catcher and tallied one reception for two yards. Cleveland’s defensive front appears ready to take a step forward and didn’t let the Baltimore Ravens’ dynamic rushing attack get much rushing yardage. Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon, and Adrian Clayborn could make it tough for Mixon to produce if he doesn’t reach the end zone.

Start/Sit Recommendation

I’d sit Mixon in this matchup. Many consider Mixon a must-start, but the Browns seem more vulnerable against the pass and stuffed the running backs of the Ravens — who set a new single-season record for team rushing yards in a season. Mixon would likely have to score to return significant value in season-long fantasy or DFS, and the Bengals have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL.
