Two women’s flyweights will take to the octagon when Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Mara Romero Borella fight at UFC Vegas 11 this Saturday from Las Vegas’ UFC Apex and live on ESPN+.
Silva will enter with the better record with six wins and one loss, with three of her victories coming via submission. However the numbers back up that she’s better at striking, landing 4.87 strikes per minutes with 54% accuracy. Silva does also take a beating in the octagon, absorbing 7.26 punches with 44% being defended. It should also be noted that Silva has lost her only fight since 2018. She didn’t compete in 2019, and was defeated via unanimous decision by Maryna Moroz in March.
Borella enters with a much more brutal 12-8 record. She’s also a much less aggressive striker, landing 2.54 strikes per minute with only 37 percent accuracy in her UFC bouts. Borella’s most fascinating trait is her defense, being able to parry 71 percent of an opponent’s strikes. Better than Silva on the ground, Borella has averaged 1.66 takedowns per 15 minutes in her career. She has a mixed bag of finishes as well with eight of her wins being submissions or decisions. She has four knockout losses as well.
At 34, Borella will enter the cage while five years older than Silva.
