How the public is betting Week 3 of college football

Before placing your bets on this weekend’s college football games, check out where the money is going and which teams are being bet the most.

NCAA Football: Camping World Bowl-Notre Dame vs Iowa State Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

What would college football be like without the SEC and Big Ten? It’s a dark question we thought we’d never know the answer to, but it cannot be understated how much the sport’s two powers are missed. While we wait on them to join the party, we have 23 games involving FBS teams this weekend with one on Friday and 22 on Saturday as of now.

Below is a look at how sports bettors are gambling on these games at DraftKings Sportsbook with a look at some of the most interesting splits of the weekend.

USF vs. Notre Dame

The USF Bulls and Notre Dame Fighting Irish each won their first game of the season, but not all unbeaten teams are created equal. Notre Dame is coming in as 25.5-point favorites, but it’s the Bulls sports bettors are siding with. Of all the bets being placed on this game at DraftKings, 57% of the bets are coming in on USF. In addition to receiving the most number of bets between the two teams, USF is receiving 61% of the handle. Notre Dame came in as 20-plus point favorites twice in 2019 and covered in both. The Irish failed to cover last weekend as 21.5-point favorites against Duke.

Miami vs. Louisville

This should be a fun one on Saturday night in the first college football game of the season played between two ranked teams. It’s pretty easy to get excited for this matchup with the Louisville Cardinals as one of last year’s most improved team and the Miami Hurricanes with their new addition of D’Eriq King. Fans are excited for a great game, and many sports bettors are excited for lots of points. Currently, 91% of bets are being placed on the over 64.5 points. However, there is a significant difference in where the bets are being placed and how much money is going on each side. Despite seeing only 9% of bets on the under, 69% of the handle is landing on the under. One item to note is Louisville games hit the over in each of its last six games.

Louisiana vs. Georgia State

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns were praised for their performance over the weekend with a 17-point victory over the Iowa State Cyclones as double-digit underdogs. This weekend, Louisiana is ranked in the top 25 at No. 19 and enter as 17-point favorites against the Georgia State Panthers. While the number of bettors riding the Ragin’ Cajuns is high, the big-money bettors are expecting a letdown following the big victory. Eighty-five percent of the bets are landing on Louisiana to cover the 17 points, but 58% of the money is headed in Georgia State’s direction. Louisiana was 2-2 when favored by 17 or more points in 2019.
