Everything had been going great for the Boston Celtics leading up to the Eastern Conference Finals. Through two games, things have been, well, not great, Bob. The Celtics blew a big lead in the second half of Thursday night’s Game 2 vs. the Heat, falling behind in the series 2-0. The Celtics had just come off an emotional win in Game 7 vs. the Toronto Raptors to advance to the conference finals. After taking the L, Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown got into a heated argument, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Smart and Brown had to be separated after a heated shouting match broke out in the locker room after the game. Per reports from last night, Smart could be heard screaming from outside the room. Smart reportedly stormed into the locker room and started yelling at players to be “accountable” and not blame him when things go wrong. Apparently, objects were thrown around as well? Yikes.
Apparently it wasn’t that big a deal, because per Shams, the Celtics have already moved on and are saying they’ll learn from the outburst and use it to fuel them in Game 3 on Saturday. Smart has been a leader for the Celtics this postseason and is a big reason why they’ve advanced this far. Considered one of the more disciplined teams, we’d be surprised to see Brad Stevens’ group not ready to get back into this series. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler is cackling reading this in his NBA bubble Lair while making coffee for $20 a pop.
