The No. 1 ranked Clemson Tigers began their season with a blowout victory over Wake Forest, and are scheduled to take on The Citadel Bulldogs on Saturday, Sept. 19 as heavy favorites.

Clemson went ahead 27-0 at the end of the first half and coasted to a 37-13 victory against the Demon Deacons on Saturday. In the season opener, Trevor Lawrence threw for 351 yards and completed 22 of 28 passes with a touchdown. Travis Etienne racked up 102 yards on 17 carries and scored as well. Plenty of pass catchers were in on the action, but Amari Rodgers led the way with five catches for 90 yards.

The Citadel is coming off a road 27-6 road loss to USF. The Bulldogs didn’t get a whole lot going offensively, as quarterback Brandon Rainey completed just 4 of 18 passes for 84 yards with an interception. Rainey led the team in rushing with 65 yards on 20 attempts. The Citadel took an early 3-0 lead, but USF took control late in the second quarter.

The Best Bet

Clemson is very possibly the best team in the entire country going up against an FCS opponent with The Citadel. Games like these sometimes come down to how many points the favorite wants to win by. It’s unlikely Lawrence will see the field much in the second half as the starters give way to the backups. Even then, the second string players on Clemson should do plenty of damage to hit the high point spread.

Pick: Clemson -45.5
