Where every MLB team stands for win totals as league nears 2⁄3 mark of the season

The 2020 MLB regular season has entered its third and final month. We break down how teams are doing in reaching the preseason win totals established at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Major League Baseball has passed the halfway point of the 2020 season for most of its teams, and as September dawns, we are coming down the home stretch of the 60-game season. Several teams have a significant number of double-headers down the stretch due to Covid-19 postponements, but most teams will get at or close to a full 60-game slate.

DraftKings Sportsbook unveiled adjusted win totals before the shortened season got going, and over half the league is halfway to their preseason win total. We’ve put together a table listing wins and losses heading into September 2nd’s schedule, what the over/under was, and how close the team is to reaching that total.

The 17-16 Detroit Tigers entered the season with some of the lowest expectations with a win total installed at 21.5. They’re already 79 percent of the way there, and while they have a lot of work to do to earn a playoff berth, they’re still kicking. They’re followed by the 16-19 Orioles, who are 78 percent of the way to their 20.5 win total. Few expected much of anything from Baltimore, and while they probably won’t make the playoffs, they’re significantly better than expected.

The Dodgers entered the season with the highest win total at 37.5, and they are now 72 percent of the way to the number. On the other hand, the Yankees were also at 37.5, but are only 53 percent of the way there. They are a couple games off pace from reaching that number.

Here’s a full rundown of where teams stand. Every over is still mathematically alive, but with most teams nearing 60 percent of the way through the schedule, we can start to see who is not likely to hit their number.
