With a banged up group of wide receivers, the San Francisco 49ers leaned heavily on their running backs in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week. That script isn’t likely to change much for Sunday’s matchup against the New York Jets, except the Niners should cruise in this one.
Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers RBs Raheem Mostert, Jerick McKinnon, Tevin Coleman
Raheem Mostert had a monster day last week. He carried the ball 15 times for 56 yards, outpacing the team’s other running backs by a mile. That was nothing compared to the four passes he caught for 95 yards and a touchdown. Jerrick McKinnon found the end zone as well on one of the three passes he caught. Tevin Coleman wasn’t a big part of the script, catching one pass and carrying the ball four times for 18 yards.
The 49ers could be without tight end George Kittle this week, who’s missed practice with a knee injury. That could mean even more work for the running backs in the passing game. But because of the one-sided nature of this one, there should be plenty of running to do, setting up Mostert for another big week and McKinnon for a decent one himself.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Mostert. Start McKinnon as a flex.
