Chris Godwin is still in the league’s concussion protocol, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have downgraded him to OUT for the team’s Week 2 game against the Carolina Panthers. Godwin wasn’t placed in the protocol until Wednesday. He did return to practice on Friday, on a limited basis, but was initially ruled doubtful for Sunday. There was hope he would clear the protocol on Saturday, but he did not and was downgraded to out.
Fantasy impact: WR Chris Godwin injury
Godwin caught six of seven passes for 79 yards in the Bucs’ underwhelming season opener last week against the Saints. And while the Bucs offense should improve, we’ll have to wait at least a week for Godwin to build on his impressive 2019 numbers.
The good news for the Bucs is that Mike Evans looks like he’s closer to full speed. Evans is an excellent start this week in fantasy. No Godwin should also mean more work for Scotty Miller, whose shown a solid connection with Tom Brady. Miller caught five of six passes last week for 73 yards. He’s a good guy to have in your lineups this week, and at $4,100 in DraftKings leagues, he’s also a bargain.
