How the public is betting Chiefs-Chargers in in Week 2

The betting public overwhelmingly likes the Chiefs this week, but has little faith in the Chargers offense to keep any kind of pace.

The Kansas City Chiefs don’t look rusty at all, do they? In fact, with the addition or rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, they just might be even better than they were in 2019 - and that’s scary.

After beating the Houston Texans in dominating fashion 34-20 to open the NFL season, the Chiefs now travel to Los Angeles to face the division rival Chargers, fresh off a 16-13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Chiefs and Chargers is on the afternoon slate of games, and has a 2:25 ET kickoff.

The Chiefs are currently favored by an almost disrespectful 8.5 points this week, with a total points betting line of 47.5 points. We’ve got a look at DraftKings Sportsbook betting splits to give us an idea of where the public is at on this divisional matchup.

Chiefs @ Chargers betting splits

The begging public thinks the Chiefs are going to win this game, with 98% of the moneyline and 95% of the moneyline handle taking the Chiefs at -375 odds. This is the game that has garnered the most consistent bets on a single side, with only the San Francisco 49ers gaining over 95% of the moneyline bets at at -315 odds over the New York Jets.

While bettors are overwhelmingly picking the Chiefs to win the game, the 8.5 point spread hasn’t scared off many bets either - 93% of bets on the spread and 86% of the spread handle have taken the Chiefs despite giving the Chargers 8.5 points.

While bettors believe the Chiefs will beat the Chargers decisively, there is little faith in the Chargers offense to put up points. The over/under line of 47.5 points is the bet that has created the biggest divide among Chiefs-Chargers bettors this week. 83% of the O/U bets, but “only” 63% of the O/U handle have bet both teams will combine to score over 47.5 points.

Considering the Chargers are a week removed from putting up a meager 16 points against a Bengal defense that just allowed 35 points to the Cleveland Browns, you can see the pause for concern.
