UPDATE: September 28th 6:55 p.m.: Notre Dame has 18 new cases of Covid-19 on the football team. Seven of the players that tested positive were previously quarantined, and currently 25 members of the roster are in quarantine.

Notre Dame does not have a game scheduled for this weekend, with their next contest against Florida State booked for October 10th in South Bend.

UPDATE: September 23rd 10:05 a.m.: It looks like ND and Wake will now play the weekend before the ACC Championship game on December 12th. This might have big implications, as the Irish are expected to be contender for the conference championship.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have had another outbreak of positive Covid-19 tests, and will not travel to Winston-Salem this weekend to face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

The Irish defeated the South Florida Bulls 52-0 last Saturday, September 19th, the same day Wake Forest fell 45-42 to North Carolina State Wolfpack in Raleigh. This isn’t the first time Notre Dame has struggled with the novel coronavirus, and the team canceled practice earlier today due to the latest outbreaks.

As of this morning, no outbreaks have been reported amongst the USF Bulls, who held football practice as per usual and have yet to announce any positive tests.

“Combined with last week’s testing results, a total of 13 players are currently in isolation, with 10 in quarantine,” the statement reads.

Both schools do have an open date for October 3rd, but whether they’ll both be able to play that weekend isn’t known yet. Notre Dame was listed as a 17.5 point favorite on the road.
