What to do with Myles Gaskin, Jordan Howard, Matt Breida in Week 3 fantasy football

Is this backfield so crowded that it should be avoided at all costs?

An interesting situation is playing out in Miami, as two veteran backs seem to be giving way to 2019 late round draft pick Myles Gaskin as the leader of the backfield. Though coaches stated that Gaskin’s higher workload was situational in Week 1, he received more carries than both Breida and Howard combined in Week 2. Are any of these backs able to be trusted in Week 3 or does the uncertainty carry too much risk? We break down the fantasy implications below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Dolphins RBs Myles Gaskin, Jordan Howard, Matt Breida

Jordan Howard has been unimpressive in his first two weeks of action in Miami. In both games combined, Howard has managed only 11 yards on 13 carries. His fantasy value is salvaged by the two touchdowns that he managed during those 13 carries. Touchdown regression is imminent, which makes for a bleak outlook on Howard’s fantasy value moving foward.

Matt Breida has also failed to set the world on fire since his arrival in Miami. He has managed 59 yards on 12 carries in his first two outings, while adding one reception for two yards. Breida has yet to top 5 PPR points this year. He can be left on benches until the coaching staff indicates a more even distribution of carries in this backfield.

The surprising development of the season in Miami, thus far, has been Myles Gaskin. He received 16 carries in the first two games which he turned into 86 yards. Gaskin has also added 10 receptions for 62 yards in those games. While he has yet to score a touchdown, he did manage double digit points in Weeks 1 and 2 in PPR leagues, with 10.6 and 14.2 points respectively. The Dolphins backfield is not one to be excited about, but if you are going to gamble on adding any member of this committee to your starting lineup, all signs are pointing to Myles Gaskin to be your guy, as he is involved in the passing game and seems to be garnering the largest share of carries.
