In a flyweight bout, #7 Kai Kara-France will take on #9 Brandon Royval in the final three-round fight of UFC 253 which will be held live on Fight Island at Abu Dhabi and on pay-per-view.
Kai “Don’t Blink” Kara-France will enter the octagon for his second UFC fight of the year. He took on #15 Tyson Nam in a late-February bout, throwing 28 more significant strikes in a unanimous decision victory.
Recording 5.27 significant strikes per minute, Kara-France is one of the most aggressive flyweight fighters. He is 4-1 in his UFC career and had won three straight before meeting #2 Brandon Moreno.
While Kara-France gets after his opponent, he doesn’t pack too much power as he’s yet to knockout an opponent, winning all four promotion bouts by decision. An orthodox-stance fighter, Kara-France defends 67 percent of his opponent’s strikes.
As for Brandon Royval, he’ll enter this bout with a 11-4 MMA record. He had one UFC win coming over #13 Tim Elliott. That fight went two rounds before Elliott submitted to an arm triangle. Royval is more of a grappler than a striker as he almost has more takedowns per 15 minutes than strikes per minutes, an unusual combination. He’s an up-and-coming star, but he’ll meet his most stout opponent yet.
Royval is entering with half as many appearances as Kara-France, but he will have a five-inch height advantage.
