We had a pretty eventful Week 2 for tight ends, as Tyler Higbee had the TD trifecta, Darren Waller caught 12 passes!, Mike Gesicki went for a career high 130 yards and Jonnu Smith caught two touchdowns with A.J. Brown out. Oh, and the ghost of Jordan Reed returned and he is pissed! Wait, don’t forget about Dalton Schultz somehow wrangling nine passes for 88 yards and a touchdown. It was a fun weekend for tight ends.
Injury news
Jack Doyle didn’t practice Wednesday with his groin injury and if he misses this week, Mo Alie-Cox would be in line for another good game against a poor Jets defense.
George Kittle missed last week with a knee injury but was able to get a limited practice in on Wednesday. He should be on track to play this weekend, but the 49ers could hold him back as they play on the Met Life carpet again and the 49ers are not all that comfortable playing there again after they had so many injuries against the Jets last week. Jordan Reed would get the start again if Kittle doesn’t play.

Mo Alie-Cox, Colts
Like I mentioned above, Jack Doyle’s injury could keep him out again, giving Alie-Cox the lead role for a second straight week. Last week he caught five passes for 111 yards and could be in line for similar numbers against the Jets. Evan if Doyle does play, MAC has a real chance to put up good numbers, especially with Parris Campbell out.
Logan Thomas, Washington
The Browns have allowed three touchdowns to tight ends through two games along with the second most receptions in the league. Thomas hasn’t put up many yards, but Dwayne Haskins has looked his way 17 times so far.
