How to watch, what to watch for Heat vs. Celtics Game 5

We go over how to watch the start of the Eastern Conference Finals between Miami and Boston on Friday, plus look at the betting lines and make a pick for Game 5.

Coming off a win in Game 3 and down 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals, many believed the Boston Celtics would respond to tie the series in Game 4 on Wednesday. Tyler Herro had different plans. The rookie guard dropped 37 points to help give the Miami Heat a 3-1 lead in the series. This is rare territory for the Celtics in the 2020 playoffs. Boston hasn’t faced elimination like this outside of Game 7 vs. the Toronto Raptors. Let’s get you ready for the crucial Game 5 on Friday.

Game Time/TV Channel/Streaming

Game 5 on Friday will take place at 8:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN and will be streaming on the Watch ESPN app.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds

Spread: Celtics -3.5
Over/Under: 212.5
Moneyline: Celtics (-159), Heat (+133)

The Best Bet: Over 212.5 (-112)

We don’t any player props as of this writing and we’ll tough on those in a separate article anyway. Looking over the initial lines, the over stands out as a good play. Game 5 may be tight with the Celtics pushing to extend the series. We’ve also seen what Boston can do when motivated and this should give the team the most motivation all season. Three of four games have gone over this line.

We also saw what happened at the end of Game 4. The Heat were up by a decent amount but the Celtics made it interesting enough, forcing a string of fouls and extra possessions with under 1:00 remaining. Something similar could play out in a close game, especially if the Celtics are trailing and desperate to extend the season. Either that, or we get a full-fledged Celtics blowout win. Game 4s total would have been much higher if the Celtics didn’t struggle so much in the first half.
