The second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide opens their season on the road with the Missouri Tigers on Saturday, Sept. 26.

For the first time since the College Football Playoff began, Alabama was not a part of it in 2019. Tua Tagovailoa is off playing in the NFL, and Mac Jones has been named the starter by Nick Saban, The expectations of the Crimson Tide each season leave zero margin for error, and of course this is a team with the talent to win national title once again.

When the SEC released its new 10-game schedule in August, it was clear Missouri and first-year head coach Eli Drinkwitz received the worst draw of crossover opponents. It’s unclear what the Tigers did to upset those inside the Birmingham conference offices, but Mizzou got Alabama and LSU put on its schedule. Yikes. Welcome to the SEC, Eli.

These two teams last played in 2018, and Alabama won 39-10 in Tuscaloosa. Spoiler: It was not that close.

Game Time/TV Channel/Streaming

Saturday’s game will start at 7 p.m. ET at Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri. This game will appear on ESPN.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends

  • Alabama finished 11-2 straight up in 2019 with a win over Michigan in the Citrus Bowl.
  • Missouri went 6-6 straight up but received a bowl ban so did not play in the postseason.
  • In 2019, Alabama went 7-6 against the spread.
  • Missouri went 4-8 against the spread last season.

The Best Bet

It’s possible Alabama relies on its running game in this one. Missouri will definitely struggle to keep this close, but the 28-point spread is incredibly high no matter who is playing. The Tigers’ best chance to keep it close is sustaining long drives that finish with points and eating up plenty of clock. so let’s go with the under in this one.

Pick: Under 55.5
