Louisiana makes 53-yard field goal at the gun to steal it from Georgia Southern [VIDEO]

Louisiana does everything wrong and still gets the win.

What a game in the Sun Belt!

First Georgia Southern does the thing nobody ever does and goes for two instead of kicking the extra point to tie with under a minute left on the road. And with 54 seconds Shai Werts used his legs and arm to give the Eagles an 18-17 lead on the road. Great play from a very underrated quarterback.

But then #19 Louisiana gets the ball back, with their dream season on the line after a win at Iowa State to open 2020. They needed a 53-yard field goal with seconds left from kicker Nate Snyder, who missed from inside 40 yards earlier in the game.

But... college football:

They’re gettin’ loony in Lafayette!

Louisiana closed as an 11.5 point favorite, and that’s a huge win to get them to 3-0 and with dreams of a big bowl game and a Sun Belt title still in their grasp. ULL struggled with Georgia State last week, but have now done the double with the Peach State schools to open league play.

The best sport is back. #FunBelt forever.
