Game status: Julio Jones is INACTIVE in Week 3

Game day update: Jones’ game status will not be decided until he goes through pre-game workouts and the team has to submit their inactive report at 11:30 a.m. ET. Adam Schefter is hearing, “It’s nip and tuck, up in the air.”

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is officially questionable on the Week 3 injury report. The veteran pass catcher is dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out of practice this week. Jones is expected to be a game-time decision for the Falcons, leaving fantasy owners with something of a dilemma for Sunday. The Falcons host the Bears at 1 p.m. ET.

Fantasy impact: Julio Jones injury

Jones is no stranger to the injury report, but this time there’s serious concern that he might not play when the Falcons host the Chicago Bears this week. It’s not a new injury for Jones either. He played through it in last week’s loss to the Cowboys, finishing with an uncharacteristic two catches for 24 yards. That came after a monster start to the season, when he caught nine balls for 157 yards in the opener.

It’s a tough situation for fantasy. Since he hasn’t been ruled out, there’s still a chance he could play, but that’s a bit of a gamble itself given that he might be relegated to decoy duties. Whether he plays or not, Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage will most likely lead the team in receiving stats again this week, making both much better starts.

You can definitely avoid him in DFS leagues. He’s the second-highest priced receiver in DraftKings leagues this week at $7,400. And even in standard fantasy formats, it’s probably best to take the more cautious route and leave him on the bench.
