Game status: Adams is INACTIVE for Week 3.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams is officially doubtful for this Sunday’s road game against the New Orleans Saints. While the team went through its usual practices this week, Adams was on the sidelines doing rehab work on a hamstring injury he initially suffered in last week’s game the Lions. Although there’s still a sliver of a chance that Adams could play this week, for fantasy purposes, it’s probably best to leave him on the bench.
Fantasy impact: Davante Adams injury
Adams exploded in Week 1, rolling up 156 yards and two touchdowns in Green Bay’s win over Minnesota. More impressive was that quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw him the ball a stunning 17 times, and he caught 14 of those passes. But injuries took some of the luster off his game last week; he caught just three passes for 36 yards, and probably left fantasy owners reeling too.
If Adams doesn’t play this week, or even if he tries to play through his injury, the Packers will have to lean on the rest of the receiving corps. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is the most likely beneficiary among the receivers, making him a decent option for a third receiver spot or a flex play in lineups. Allen Lazard could see more passes too, but he didn’t do much when Adams was out of the game last week. In reality, the most likely beneficiary will be running back Aaron Jones, who led the team in targets (8) last week.
