Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was pegged as one of the top candidates to win Comeback Player of the Year and lead the NFL in passing yards, but injuries to his receiving corps will make achieving those goals tough for him. Stafford might get a big boost out wide in Week 3 though, and that could help him gain some momentum.
Fantasy Football analysis: Lions QB Matthew Stafford
Stafford’s top target — Kenny Golladay — is aiming to return to the field in Week 3 after missing two games with a hamstring injury. He led the NFL with 11 receiving touchdowns in 2019 despite Stafford missing half the season with a back injury. Golladay is a top-notch deep threat and excels at catching contested passes. Detroit will be up against an explosive Arizona Cardinals offense that depends on the dynamic battery of Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins, who have been two of the more productive fantasy players we’ve seen this season. There could be a lot of points scored between these two teams, so it’s likely that Stafford will throw the ball quite a bit.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Stafford is bound to have a monster game soon, so I’d start him in his first game with his best weapon this season.
