The Los Angeles Chargers are 1-1 after a losing a close game to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2, but have an optimal matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3. Justin Herbert has had to step in for the injured Tyrod Taylor under center and had a threw the ball well against the Chiefs, but the Chargers have one of the better one-two punches in the NFL in their backfield so far this season.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chargers RBs Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelley
Ekeler was expected to flourish this season following the departure of Melvin Gordon, but has been somewhat underwhelming in 2020. He’s been splitting work with rookie running back Joshua Kelley, and the two backs have 35 carries apiece. The Panthers have given up a ton of fantasy points to running backs this season, and Los Angeles has more rushing attempts than any team in the NFL. I expect the Chargers to continue leaning on their two versatile running backs.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Ekeler and Kelley are worth starting, but I’d give the edge to Ekeler because of his PPR upside.
