The Cincinnati Bengals lost their starting tight end C.J. Uzomah in last week’s loss to the Cleveland Browns. Into his place went second-year pro Drew Sample, who ended up seeing plenty of action as his team put together an unsuccessful comeback attempt. However, Sample finished the game with enough on the stat sheet to make him an intriguing option for fantasy lineups.
Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals TE Drew Sample
Sample caught seven passes on nine targets last week, finishing with 45 yards. He got most of his looks after Uzomah left the game. Still a relative unknown for fantasy, there are a couple factors working in Sample’s favor this week. First, short, quick passes have been a staple of the Bengals offense so far this season, and tight ends have been targeted on a fifth of Joe Burrow’s pass attempts. Second, they play the Eagles this week, a team that’s given up four touchdowns to tight ends in just two games this season.
If you need tight end help, Sample is a good option this week and beyond. He’s a steal in DFS leagues now too, going for just $3,500 in DraftKings leagues this week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Drew Sample.
