Expectations were high for New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon heading into the season. He was finally healthy, and ticketed for a big role in an offense short on playmakers. Like the rest of the team, Herndon’s been a disappointment so far, and if he is going to eventually have a breakout game, it’s unlikely to happen this week.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jets TE Chris Herndon
Despite injuries to other offensive skill players, Herndon hasn’t been able to translate that into production. He was targeted just four times last week against the 49ers, catching just one pass for four yards. In the first week of the season against the Bills, he had six catches on seven targets for just 37 yards. He’s getting outplayed at this point by wide receiver who won’t be in the league a year from now.
Things could still eventually get better for Herndon, but it’s not going to happen this week. The Colts have the NFL’s top defense when it comes to stopping tight ends. In two games, opposing tight ends have a grand total of three catches for 11 yards against the Colts.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Chris Herndon.
