What to do with 49ers D/ST in Week 3 fantasy football

Despite having three of their best players on IR, the 49ers defense is still a decent option this week.

It’s been a brutal start to the season for the San Francisco 49ers defense. After Week 1, they had to put cornerback Richard Sherman on injured reserve with a calf injury. Then, in last week’s game against the Jets that devastated the roster, the team had to put both Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas on IR. Those losses are going to be a problem when San Francisco’s schedule gets harder later next month, but it shouldn’t be enough to hold them back against the New York Giants this week.

Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers D/ST

The Giants have been a gift to opposing defenses. The Steelers D/ST had 13 fantasy points against them in Week 1, and the Bears had 16 last week. Plus, the Giants are having their own struggles with the injury bug. The team lost running back Saquon Barkley for the season last week.

Even against the Giants, injuries will limit the some of the scoring potential for the 49ers D/ST, but not enough to keep them out of your lineup.
