What to do with Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage in Week 3 fantasy football if Julio Jones does not play

With Julio Jones questionable due to a hamstring injury, what would it mean for Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage?

Game status update: Julio Jones has been declared INACTIVE for Week 3. Gage gains considerable value with Jones ruled out.

Julio Jones is listed as questionable for the Atlanta Falcons’ game against the Chicago Bears with a hamstring injury. He missed practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Jones could be a game-time decision, so check the injury reports Sunday morning. If he ultimately doesn’t suit up, here’s what fantasy owners should do with Atlanta receivers Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage.

Fantasy Football analysis: Falcons WRs Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage

Ridley has been a fantasy superstar in the first two games of his third NFL season. Through two games, he has 16 receptions for 239 yards and four touchdown catches. Fantasy players wondered when Ridley would explode as a reliable playmaker in the NFL, and it appears it’s happening in 2020.

Operating as the slot receiver in this offense, Gage has seen the ball come his way plenty of times in this pass-happy offense so far. Through two games, he has 15 catches for 160 yards and a touchdown. Gage has been targeted 21 times this season.

Both receivers have benefited from Matt Ryan throwing the ball 90 times so far in 2020.

The wide receiver duo will match up against a Bears’ defense that has been solid against opposing wideouts this season. Chicago’s last game was against the New York Giants, whose leading receiver was Golden Tate with five catches for 47 yards.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Ridley entered himself into the must-start category and with the amount of passing this offense does, feel free to enter Gage confidently as a top wide receiver with plenty of upside if Jones cannot go.
